Firefighters are tackling a large barn fire in Ryedale this morning (Thursday).
Crews were called to Cold Kirby near Helmsley at around 7.15am and have several fire engines at the scene plus a water bowser.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The barn measures approximately 40m by 20m with straw and machinery also involved and our crews are likely to be at the scene for some time.

“Please avoid the area.
“Our crews are working hard to fight the fire and protect surrounding buildings.
“Smoke has been reported in the area, including on Sutton Bank – if your visibility is effected by this, please drive carefully or pull over if safe to do so.”
