An Acomb fire crew responded to reports of a fire in the open yesterday evening (Thursday). It was believed to have been started deliberately.
The incident took place at around 7.11 pm in The Village, Strensall.
The small fire was on a patch of grass, which was out by the time the firefighters arrived.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue spokesperson said: “The cause was believed to be deliberate.”
The news follows a series of similar incidents in York over recent weeks.
