Fire crews respond to incident in York city centre
Three fire engines responded to an incident in York city centre today (Monday).
They cordoned off the pavement outside Casa Restaurant on Micklegate shortly after 8.30am.
Police officers were also on scene to control traffic in the area.
Fire crews were responding to an alarm sounding and reports of smoke in the building.
Watch manager Mike Sutcliffe of North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said: “There was some smoke build-up in the property. It was a kitchen appliance that was left turned on.”
He said everyone was out of the building and no one was injured. There was some smoke logging but the building was otherwise undamaged.
Casa is not open at present.
