Firefighters went to the property on Tudor Road at 10.02am today (Thursday).
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A crew from Acomb responded to reports of a female who had put a jacket potato in the oven on a high temperature and left the room, when the door handle broke, leaving the woman locked out and unable to switch her oven off.
“The crew gained entry to the kitchen, using a triple extension ladder, pitched to a window, and used a screwdriver to open the door.”
