A festive North Yorkshire tractor run has raised an incredible amount of money for charity.
Hundreds of spectators braved Storm Darragh at the weekend to come out to watch and support the Alne Charity Tinsel Tractor Run, which took place on Sunday 8 December.
Back for a second year running, there was a terrific turnout of tractors and tinsel – and the event raised over £5000 for the York Hospital Children’s Ward.
The event was first launched last year, to raise money for charities in the local area.
Organiser Gemma Chapman chose the York Hospital Children’s Ward (17 & 18) as the chosen charity this year, as it’s a cause extremely close to her family’s heart. Her son, Bertie, has frequent respiratory and chest infections, which means they’ve been regular visitors to the ward over the past two and a half years.
Departing at Alne Village Hall, the route saw the tractors travel from Alne, to Tollerton, Newton-on-Ouse, Linton-on-Ouse, Aldwark, Flawith, Tholthorpe, Myton-on-Swale, Helperby, Raskelf, Easingwold, Alne Station, and back to Alne Village Hall.
It was an afternoon of festive fundraising family fun, with a raffle and a pie and peas supper after the tractor run.
And they’re still taking donations! If you’d like to make a donation, visit their JustGiving page here.
The Alne Charity Tinsel Tractor Run is sponsored by Britcab Ltd, Allium Energy, S Winspear, and Forest Lane Fisheries.
