Fashion store set to open in York city centre

A fashion brand new to York will open soon.

Utopia Womenswear is set to open a branch on Spurriergate in the next few days.

The store, which also has branches in Bolton, Altrincham and Preston, “provides great quality clothing and the latest fashion trends”.

It is good news for the Spurriergate-Coney Street shopping run which has had more than its fair share of shop closures.

But there are signs of a turnaround. The opening of Utopia follows toyshop The Entertainer opening on Coney Street and plans for a Lucky Days cafe in the former Burgins Perfumery on the corner of St Helen’s Square.

Jobs on offer

Utopia is also advertising for staff.

They need to fill both full and part-time posts, asking “applicants to be flexible”.
