Yorkshire’s very own superhero Yorkshire-Man will be jumping into a giant Yorkshire Pudding filled with gravy.
The great leap is part of the Yorkshire Day celebrations at York Maze on Thursday 1 August.
The giant Yorkshire Pudding is over 6ft in diameter and will hold 2000 litres of gravy – that’s the kind of portion size you want on your Sunday dinner!
York Maze owner Tom Pearcy, said, “With an ey up and away, Yorkshire-Man will be leaping into the giant Yorkshire Pudding filled with gravy – we’re advising spectators to stand well back lest they get a good dousing in gravy too!”
The Yorkshire Day celebrations at York Maze will begin at 1pm with the traditional Yorkshire Pudding tossing competition – with the child and adult with the biggest throws being crowned winners.
Then, at 2.30pm, for the big finale, Yorkshire-Man will be leaping into the giant Yorkshire Pudding filled with gravy, all while clad in his traditional yellow and green lycra suit and flat cap.
YorkMix will also be there on the day too making a splash!
The whole Maze will be getting into the spirit of Yorkshire Day, with staff members wearing flat caps, Yorkshire Pudding wraps available from the Fodder Barn, contemporary tunes and Yorkshire favourites from the New York Brass Band, and more.
And, everyone visiting York Maze on Yorkshire Day wearing a flat cap will be offered a complimentary mug of freshly brewed Yorkshire Tea.
