Extra dates added to York beer festival due to popular demand – cheers to that!
Time to dust off your dirndl – Yorktoberfest is returning!
The popular beer festival is once again bringing all things Bavarian to York Racecourse this October.
This year it’s double the fun as due to popular demand, more dates have been added!
Yorktoberfest will take place at the Clocktower Enclosure from Thursday 21 to Saturday 23 October and Thursday 28 to Sunday 31 October.
So hopefully no one misses out on a bratwurst…
Like the first Oktoberfest staged in Munich in 1810, the York version will follow tradition and bring beer, bratwurst and lots of oompah to a giant Bavarian-styled beer tent.
The bar will be serving authentic German beer as well as a range of wines, prosecco, spirits and soft drinks.
There will also be a variety of German-inspired food stalls serving up sausages, schnitzels, pretzels – and vegetarian and vegan options.
A vintage funfair will be adding to the fun, complete with traditional rides.

And let’s not forget the entertainment! York’s own New York Brass Band will be taking to the stage – and taking on the Yorktoberfest persona as the New York OOMPAH Brass Band.
Internationally acclaimed drag artist Velma Celli will also be performing, and bringing her powerhouse vocals and outrageous humour.
Known as ‘the UK’s Queen of live vocal drag’, Velma has been charming audiences across the globe for the past 10 years, and is the alter-ego of West End star Ian Stroughair.
Co-producer James Cundall, CEO of Jamboree Entertainment said: “Yorktoberfest promises to be an evening of hearty fun, with beer, bands, and bratwurst, not to mention a drag queen!
“Dust off the fancy dress outfits and come along!”
