The organisers of the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon have unveiled details for a new 10-mile run that will be held alongside the sell-out marathon.
Starting and finishing at the University of York, the Plusnet Yorkshire 10 Mile will get underway immediately after the marathon on Sunday, October 11, 2015 and take in a section of the 26.2 mile course.
The 10 mile entrants will get to soak up the unique atmosphere and enjoy the support of the large and enthusiastic crowds that have become such a feature of the marathon since its launch in 2013.
‘Festival feel’
Along with the Northern Gas Networks Corporate Relay, the new 10 Mile event will bring a ‘festival feel’ to the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon.
Charlie Tatman, of the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon, said:
The new event offers the convenience of a shorter distance combined with the large crowds and extra buzz associated with such a high-profile marathon.
People taking part in the Plusnet Yorkshire 10 Mile can raise money for a good cause of their own choice or for one of the event’s partner charities.
They are the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Macmillan Cancer Support, Martin House Children’s Hospice, The Haven breast cancer support centres, CLIC Sargent, Candlelighters, St Leonard’s Hospice and Sue Ryder.
