York has been chosen to open one of the national NHS Vaccination Centres.

It means the existing Askham Bar site will be opened up to people who live within a 45-minute radius of York.

This centre has been giving Covid-19 vaccinations to people in York itself since before Christmas.

Here’s what you need to know about what’s happening at the centre.

Please note this is NOT a drive-through vaccination process.

This Vaccination Centre will serve thousands more priority patient groups from across the region.

York people will continue to be vaccinated at the site.

Who can come to the NHS Vaccination Centre?

People should wait to be invited.

They will be invited as per the priority groups, determined by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).

People should not call their GP, but use the booking line shown on the letter. If an appointment has already been offered by their GP, people can choose which appointment suits them best.
