Mince Pie FM is now on air in York playing non-stop festive tunes.
The York Bid (York Business Improvement District) and Minster FM launched the pop-up radio station on Friday (December 1).
Traditionally Minster FM has rebranded itself as Mince Pie FM for a few days on the run up to Christmas.
Bt the advent of DAB radio in North Yorkshire has allowed for a dedicated service to launch this year in partnership with The York Bid.
Championing York
In between Mince Pie FM’s classic Christmas music the York Bid will be championing the fantastic attractions, events and initiatives across the city this festive season.
Executive director at The York Bid Andrew Lowson said they were very excited by the potential of the project.
“Pop up radio stations are becoming increasingly popular and Mince Pie Non Stop will certainly get people in the festive spirit.
“Most importantly, the messages broadcast between songs are all about promoting the city centre.”
A grand to win
Andrew said the Bid’s messages “will encourage people to come to the city centre making it a great Christmas for local people and local businesses alike”.
David Green, content director of Minster FM, said the station provided the perfect Christmas soundtrack.
“If you’re wrapping presents, decorating your tree or heading into town late night shopping, Mince Pie Non Stop is designed to put you in the festive mood.”
As an extra Christmas present Mince Pie Non Stop and the York Bid are giving away £1,000 to someone who shops in York city centre over the Christmas period using a password located in the city. Listen in for more details.
