The sun shone on thousands of smiling racegoers done up to the nines at York Racecourse today (Friday).
Wonderful frocks and a glass of fizz were the order of the third and final day of the season-opening Dante Festival.
And pictured among the crowds was an England footballing legend.
Michael Owen, the former Liverpool striker, was casting an expert eye over the runners and riders. Since retiring from football, he has immersed himself in racing, owning his own stables in Cheshire.
On the track, Devoted Queen enjoyed a neat victory in the Sky Bet Fillies’ Stakes. The three-year-old was the 3-1 favourite to record and won by two lengths.
Giavellotto dominated his rivals to make it back-to-back wins in the Boodles Yorkshire Cup.
In the Dante Stakes, the William Haggas-trained Economics prevailed. And Lead Artist bolted home by four and three-quarter lengths in the Darley EBF Novices Stakes.
