Skeldergate Bridge in York was closed to traffic due to emergency tree works this morning (Wednesday, 16 April).
The bridge has now reopened after being closed for several hours.
The bridge was closed in both directions between Tower Street and Bishopgate Street and traffic was being diverted, but pedestrians were still cross.

The closure was due to a large tree between Terry Avenue and Bishopgate Street being deemed as unsafe.
The team from Dunning Plant Hire iworked to take the tree down, but a spokesperson told YorkMix they were unsure how long the operation would take.
They explained that the tree trunk split through the middle, between two large branches, and the tree then started to sway and creak.
The split began to get bigger and became a danger, before the plant hire company arrived to chop down the side of the tree.
This happened at around 8.30am this morning.

Traffic approaching the bridge from Bishopgate Street was diverted towards Skeldergate, and Tower Street traffic towards Clifford Street.
A City of York Council spokesperson said: “Skeldergate Bridge is currently closed in both directions while teams deal with a large tree nearby which is currently unsafe.
“The route from Terry Avenue to Skeldergate Bridge is also closed while our teams work to resolve this. Skeldergate itself remains open but there is no left turn while the bridge is closed.
“The tree has been assessed and teams are on-site to work on a solution as soon as possible.
“Please avoid the area, plan ahead and take alternative routes.
“We will provide more updates as soon as we have them, and we hope the road will be re-opened today.”
