Police are investigating after a car overturned before the driver abandoned the vehicle.
Officers were called out to the incident on Common Lane, Heslington at 6.30am today (Thursday). They then called in the fire service.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “York and Acomb fire crews were mobilised to a police report of an overturned car off the road.”
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Police received a call shortly after 6.30 this morning from a member of the public who stated they had witnessed a vehicle abandoned on the side of Common Lane in York.
“Police and fire crews attended the scene and confirmed there was no occupants present with the vehicle.
“Enquires are now ongoing to try and locate the owner of the vehicle and establish the circumstances as to why it was abandoned.”
