Police officers, fire crews and the York Rescue Boat responded to reports of a woman in the river this afternoon (Sunday).

Firefighters from York, Acomb, Selby and specialist water teams from Malton and Ripon were all called out at 3.41pm.

The North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service boat and York Rescue Boat both took to the River Ouse in the Fishergate area.

The emergency services have since been told that the woman had got out of the water but are continuing the search as a precaution.
