An electricity pylon caught fire after being struck by lightning last night (Saturday).
Firefighters were called to the incident on Selby Road, Escrick at 7.42pm.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A crew from Acomb responded to a report of an electricity pylon that had been struck by lightning.
“Crews located an electricity pylon and transformer that had been struck by lightning and had been on fire.
“The fire was out on the arrival of fire crews, an inspection only was carried out.
“Advice was given to a responsible person to await arrival of Northern Power engineers who were aware of the incident.”
