Roald Dahl or Beatrix Potter? Rumble In The Jungle or Hairy Maclary?

Childcare professionals across the city are being invited to discuss their favourite children’s books and authors this week as part of an initiative to encourage young children to read.

Anyone working with children under school age is invited to pop along to the Early Years Book Club at the Eccles Building in Burnholme from 4.15pm till 6pm on Wednesday, February 26.

“Instilling a love of reading is one of the greatest gifts we can give our children,” said Cllr Janet Looker, York city council’s cabinet member for education.

“We know that childcare professionals in York are already doing a great job of making reading fun for young children and we hope that the book club will help broaden their book choices and help them pick the right books for the children they’re working with.”

The Book Club takes place ahead of World Book Day on Thursday, March 6
