Police say they arrested a driver on suspicion of drug driving after the collision that brought the A64 to a standstill in York this morning.
A car and a van which were travelling eastbound collided near the Fulford junction on the outskirts of York shortly after 7.30am today.
Emergency services spent several hours dealing with the incident, leading to long tailbacks which affected not only the eastbound A64 but also York city centre too.
Minor injuries were reported and the vehicles were seriously damaged, but thankfully nobody is believed to have suffered serious injuries.
The car driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and driving without due care and attention.
Police say if you have dashcam footage that could help the investigation get in touch.
