A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following a collision which left two cyclists seriously injured.
As reported on our York live blog , the incident happened on Strensall Road near the barracks at about 9am on Saturday (8 February).
The two cyclists, a man and a woman, suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
The car driver, a 72-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
The road was closed until 12.30pm while police examined the scene.
