A police chase reached speeds of more than 100mph in North Yorkshire this morning (Friday).
Traffic officers were alerted to a BMW 5 series which was displaying suspected cloned plates at 2.25am on the move in the county.
Using numberplate recognition technology, the force control room tracked the car to the A1M near Allerton Park.
Police caught up with the vehicle which failed to stop near junction 44, the turn-off to York.
Officers pursued the BMW at speed. It only began to slow down due to a puncture. Police were then able to box it in on the hard shoulder near junction 42.
A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, fail to stop for police and driving whilst disqualified.
He remains in police custody.
Traffic Constable Matt Harvey was involved in the pursuit, which was prompted by information from police in South Yorkshire.

TC Harvey, of North Yorkshire Police, said: “Working closely with our colleagues in the force control room we acted quickly and decisively to bring this pursuit to a stop to protect the public.
“I’m pleased to say that no members of the public or officers were injured and on this occasion it’s just a couple of minor scrapes to our patrol vehicles.
“Every night we remain committed to tackling serious and organised criminality within North Yorkshire.
“This incident shows that there are no borders. Working collaboratively with our neighbouring forces we share information and resource to keep the public safe and take criminals off the streets.”
