Police are asking motorists to stay at home unless their journey is essential as snow begins to cause problems on the roads in North Yorkshire.
The North Yorkshire roads policing group tweeted: “Numerous reports around the county of snow & poor road conditions – don’t travel unless you have to and reconsider your route.”
The A169 Pickering to Whitby road is closed due to vehicles getting stuck.
At 9.45am the B6055 between Knaresborough and Harrogate was closed after an accident.
Snow is making some routes in Pickering treacherous, and it is settling in Harrogate.
It is causing some problems for bus services.
Snow began falling in York at about 9.30am, but there are no reports of problems in the city yet. We’ll bring you news updates as we get them.
