Young people are planning a big fight tonight say police – and they are urging parents to step in.
A dispersal order has been put in place across Haxby following reports of the fight among young people.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team have liaised with schools. And are urging parents to check where their children are and find out what they are doing this evening.
The dispersal order enables officers to order anyone causing trouble – or who officers believe could cause trouble – to leave the area and not to return for a period of 48 hours.
The order is place from today until Sunday (7 July). It covers the whole of Haxby within the boundaries of the A1237, Wigginton Road, Sutton Road, and Strensall Road.
Inspector Lee Point of York Neighbouhood Policing Team said: “We urge parents across York to please know where their young people are and what they are doing. Haxby people have had enough of antisocial behaviour and this order helps us to prevent it before it happens.
“Not all suspects are from Haxby, therefore this message applies to all parents across the city whose children may be involved.
“We will be out and about in the area, but if anyone suspects or witnesses any antisocial behaviour in Haxby this weekend, please call us on 999.”
