More details have emerged about the new café bar coming to Vangarde Shopping Park in York.
YorkMix revealed earlier this month that the Bristol-based hospitality group Loungers UK were planning to open a venue at the shopping centre.
Now we know the name, the location, and how it’s going to look.
It will be called the Vichingo Lounge, according to planning documents submitted to City of York Council.
And it will occupy the empty corner unit of the LNER Community Stadium, next to both the Hollywood Bowl and the Cineworld cinema.
‘Vichingo’ means Viking in Italian. And this is how its signage will look, according to the plans.
The parent company, Loungers Plc, always gives its lounge café bars an individual name. The nearest one to York is the Barco Lounge in Selby, and there is the Ontano Lounge in Northallerton.
According to the plans, the sign will be created in turquoise and honey yellow, and there will be a brass menu box.
The lounges are described as “a neighbourhood café-bar combining elements of a restaurant, British pub and coffee shop culture”.
The Vichingo Lounge wants to open from 8am till 12.30am. Every Lounge offers all-day dining, with the same menu served from 9am and 10pm daily.
Each menu includes breakfast and brunch, and its lunch and evening dishes include burgers, buttermilk chicken and tapas.
