Yorkshire Day – August 1 – will see two of York’s key attractions reopen.
The York Museums Trust has announced that York Castle Museum and York Art Gallery will open their doors again on Saturday, 1 August.
But there is no date yet for another of its attractions, the Yorkshire Museum, to reopen.
A spokesperson for York Museums Trust said: “We’re excited to announce that York Art Gallery and York Castle Museum will reopen on August 1.
“The Yorkshire Museum will remain closed for the time being to allow us to focus on putting in place our plans to ensure the safety of our staff and visitors at the gallery and castle museum.”
Asking for feedback
The trust closed all its attractions on 17 March.
It reopened Museum Gardens on 25 June.
At the time, the trust revealed that the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in a loss of 70 per cent of its income. They have had to furlough most staff.
The spokesperson said they want people to feed back to them about how to make their return as comfortable as possible.
“Details of our opening days and times, how to book tickets online and further information about your visit will be released shortly. Please follow our social media channels for the latest information.
“We would love to hear from you about how we can make your return to our museums as comfortable and enjoyable experience as possible.
