Glorious Georgians will be taking over York for the third time – as the York Georgian Festival is back this summer.
Festival hosts York Mansion House will be opening their 300-year-old doors, following restoration works, in time to welcome visitors to celebrate all things Georgian.
Taking place over a new five-day period, Thursday 7 to Monday 11 August 2025, you can expect the return of 18th Century favourites – including dance classes, fashionable demonstrations, ‘cooking’ classes, gruesome tours with Mad Alice, and Horrible Historian, Terry Deary to kick things off!

The full programme for the festival will launch on Friday 25 April at 11am, but here’s a teaser of the fun to come…
Returning events will include the Regency Rejigged dancers who will be brightening St Helen’s Square with weekend dancing, and the incredibly popular York Georgian Ball (Sat 9 Aug) at the Grand Assembly Rooms.
With the support of ASK Italian and York Gin, you can step back in time in this truly authentic setting. Enjoy a three-course meal, live music from Eboracum Baroque and dance the night away with instructor Lottie from Dance The Past.
New additions for the 2025 festival include a theatrical performance in the Merchant Taylor’s Hall. There’ll be an immersive production exploring landscape, music and tales with Figures In The Landscape in the State Room of York Mansion House, and talks spanning all themes from the time period from Byron to Austen.
The events programme will stretch across the city – including York Mansion House, Fairfax House, Guildhall, Holy Trinity Goodramgate, York Medical Society and more.
Mark your calendar for the launch of the programme on Friday 25 April to secure your tickets for your chosen events.
