Fire crews had a busy evening in York last night (Friday).
They were called to three fires in eight minutes.
The first was at 5.11pm at Jubilee Terrace putting out a fire in the open measuring 3m by 2m.
Then, at 5.12pm, crews from Tadcaster responded to multiple reports of a fire to grassland off Foxwood Lane.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The fire measured about 40m by 15m and was spreading to trees and hedging.
“Crews used two hose reel jets and beaters to extinguish the fire.”
No reason for why these fires had started was given.
York crews then put out some garden waste that had caught fire in New Earwick at 5.19pm.
Later, at 10.16pm firefighters went to a report of a fire behind a property “which was causing concern to local residents due to the location of a large tree which crosses the boundary between properties,” the spokesperson said.
“The fire was out on arrival of the crews, who found it was a controlled burn with adequate surpression equipment in place. Crews gave advice to both parties.”
