Updated: Three-vehicle crash on the A64 in York cleared

There was a crash on the A64 in York this evening (Monday).

It was on the westbound carriageway at Askham Bryan and involved three vehicles.

It has now been cleared.

Traffic Alert – York ⚠️

We're currently dealing with a road traffic collision on the westbound carriageway of the A64 at Askham Bryan.

Our officers are working as hard as they can to clear the lanes but traffic is heavy in the area.

All lanes have now reopened on the #A64 westbound between the #A1036 and #A1237 near #York following the earlier collision.

Emergency services went to the scene. One lane was closed.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A crew from Tadcaster responded to reports of a three-vehicle road traffic collision.

“All persons were out on arrival. Crews made the scene safe using small tools.”

Traffic was heavy in the area for several hours. At its peak, National Highways Yorkshire said there were miles of tailbacks, causing delays of 55 minutes.
