Updated: York ring road reopens after crash

The York outer ring road has reopened after a crash closed it in both directions.

It happened at about 3pm today (Monday).

The A1237 was closed both ways from the A59 junction to the junction with Main Street, Knapton.

It caused long queues. At one point congestion backed up beyond Clifton Moor Retail Park.

And there were tailbacks on the eastbound A59 through Poppleton, and heavy delays through York on Shipton Road.

The road has since reopened, and traffic is now running freely again.

We have no details as to the vehicles involved in the crash or any casualties.
