A woman has been taken to hospital after a crash that closed a York bridge.
The bridge was closed for some time while emergency services worked at the scene. It has now reopened.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The collision involved a woman pedestrian and a car on Ouse Bridge at around 4.35pm.
“She was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
“Nearby roads were closed to traffic while the emergency services worked at the scene.
“The route reopened at 5.30pm.”
Paramedics treated the injured person in the road for some time before taking her to hospital.
A police van blocked off the Skeldergate end of the bridge. Traffic officers were turning people away from near the King Street junction at the other end.
North Yorkshire Police said on Twitter: “Expect busy traffic in York centre for a while due to an accident at Ouse Bridge.
“Please avoid the area if possible as various roads will be affected.”
Buses were diverted via other routes until the road reopened.
Witnesses are asked to make a report via the North Yorkshire Police website or by calling 101, using reference NYP-22092022-0311.
