The A64 has reopened after a crash this afternoon (Monday, 12 June).
The A64 westbound was closed from Brambling Fields, Norton, Malton, due to the collision, involving a motorbike.
Police urged drivers to “use an alternative route if travelling from Scarborough towards York”.
For a short time, the eastbound carriageway was also shut to allow the air ambulance to land.
Both lanes have now reopened.
Where the crash happened
National Highways Yorkshire tweeted at 5.35pm: “The A64 westbound between B1248 and #A169 near #Norton has reopened following the earlier collision.
“No delays are reported on approach. Thanks for your patience.”
Earlier, a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson had said: “Emergency services are at the scene of a road traffic collision on the A64 Westbound carriageway near to Malton.
“The A64 is currently closed between the slip road at Brambling Fields and the junction with the A169.
“Light vehicles are able to divert through Norton on the B1248, however HGVs will have to queue on the A64.
“Please be prepared for a delay to your journey if you are travelling in this area.
“Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience.”
