It’s all change at a York coffee shop – less than two months after it opened.
The Divine Project started trading on Market Street on 17 August.
It was a joint enterprise between two independent city firms – bar and coffee shop North South, on Bootham, and Divine Coffee Roasters, based on Micklegate.
York couple Laura Wood and Rich Taylor have run North South for almost exactly five years.
Today they announced they were withdrawing from the Market Street venue.
Posting on Facebook, Laura and Rich said: “We have made the decision to focus all of our attention on North South and therefore will no longer be part of The Divine Project.
“We’ve had a blast working with the Divine guys on the new project and we know they’ll take it forward and make it a success.
“We wish them all the best with the venture and will be popping in from now on to drink flat whites, rather than make them.”
Now the couple were focusing on the future, including a “Christmas at North South like no other! See you soon for exciting plans.”
North South is so named because Laura is from near Sunderland, and Rich is from near Cambridge.
With regards to the Divine Project partnership, when it opened Rich told us: “It was a bit of a chance meeting, we decided that we could work well together, managing the coffee shops as well as North South, and they can roast great coffee.”
