The Civic Party will welcome a new member for one day only on Tuesday 15 October as part of Local Democracy Week, which looks to help residents understand the workings of local democracy.
Rebecca Andrews, winner of a poster design competition for Local Democracy Week, will spend the whole day taking part in the Lord Mayor’s engagements and will also include a tour of the historic Mansion House.
The day will see the year six pupil from Dringhouses primary school help the Lord Mayor officially open the new Europcar franchise and visit the York Cocoa House to learn about the chocolate making process.
The Rt Hon The Lord Mayor of York, Cllr Julie Gunnell, said: “I am delighted to welcome Rebecca to the Civic Party as reward for her great design to promote Local Democracy Week.
“I hope she has a great time seeing first hand what the role of the Lord Mayor entails and very much look forward to meeting her.”
