The Wilberfoss Amateur Theatre Society are staging their first ever pantomime next week – and you don’t want to miss out.
It’s just the thing to brighten up a February weekend and chase away those winter blues – oh yes it is! Wilberfoss Amateur Theatre Society (WATS) are getting ready to bring lots of family fun and panto magic to the village of Wilberfoss, near York.
Little East Riding Hood is at the Wilberfoss Community Centre on Saturday 24 February at 6pm and Sunday 25 February at 1pm and 6pm.
The non-profit community theatre group, created Sally Langton, began in October 2022 and went on to perform a successful showcase in May last year – and now they’ve been working hard towards their first pantomime.
“We have a wonderful group of people who come together every week and now we’re putting on our first pantomime which is just going to be so much fun,” Sally told YorkMix.
WATS were also a recipient of an East Riding Community Action Grant of £1,500, which has gone towards making the pantomime the best it can possibly be.
Sally has written, directed and choreographed the show. It follows the titular Little East Riding Hood as she sets out to be a hero and save the village of Wilberfoss from the big, bad wolf – with plenty of surprises along the way! With a Yorkshire twist on the classic fairytale and a whole host of loveable characters, this is a show not to be missed.
“It’s filled with singing, dancing, laughter, jokes, it’s got all the classic pantomime bits that everyone knows and loves – and it’s perfect for all ages,” said Sally.
“We have YorkMix‘s Rachel Rogers playing our principal boy Willy Woodcutter – with plenty of thigh slapping!
“The cast are ready to give you a show to remember so come along and join in the fun.”
If you’d like to see the show – you better be quick! The Saturday night show Sunday matinee show are now sold out.
There will also be a cake and refreshments sale and a raffle during each show. The event is cash only.
Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for under 18s, to be paid on the door, and can be reserved here via Google form or by contacting [email protected].
