CAY is holding its latest informal drop-in meeting for flood victims on Wednesday, August 2, and mental health specialists will be there.
A CAY spokesperson said: “Directly after the floods residents were focused on resolving housing and debt issues.
“But now time has passed, people have had the chance to reflect on the emotional impact of the flood and CAY regularly receive requests for referrals to counselling and support services.”
York Mind and Mainstay mental health service will be attending the meeting, along with Yorkshire Water. The Healing Clinic will also be available to provide free ’mini massages.’
Promote recovery
CAY is inviting residents affected by the floods to come along to the meeting, even if they only want to drop in for a short time.
The event is an opportunity to for residents to share their experiences of the floods and understand that there is still support available to them.
Citizens Advice York is a local charity, which provides free and impartial advice and support to York residents affected by the floods.
CAY adviser Kate Cassidy said:
We are working in partnership with a wide range of specialist agencies based within the community, who can help residents to build resilience and promote recovery after the floods.
These include Yorkshire Water, York Council emergency planning team, York CVS, the Healing Clinic, St Nicks, York Archaeological trust, Trading Standards, Age UK, Mind And Mainstay mental health services.
