The event at the Grand Opera House is billed as a “music and comedy special” and will be the first time the two acts have appeared at a gig together.
Festival director Miles Salter said: “We want to expand our audience by including more music and comedy events.
“This will give the festival more energy and a more inclusive feel. This will be one of the festival highlights for 2015, and I’m really looking forward to seeing it happen.”
John Hegley’s sardonic, tongue in cheek humour has won him fans all over the UK. A regular guest on BBC Radio 4 the poet and comic has performed extensively at festivals, literature events, arts centres and schools.
John has produced ten books of verse and prose pieces and is an Edinburgh Festival regular, and once performed in a women’s prison in Columbia.
Blackbeard’s Tea Party are one of York’s most exciting bands.
Since busking on York’s streets five years ago they have become recognised as among Britain’s leading young folk groups, frequently selling out venues and with guest appearances at some of the top music festivals including Sidmouth Folk Week and Galtres.
Their albums include Heavens To Betsy (2009) and Tomorrow We’ll Be Sober (2011).
