A bar synonymous with sporting action that closed earlier this year is to reopen in a prominent new location.
The Terrace closed on Fossgate in June and reopened as The Stonebow after a makeover by pub company the Stonegate Group.
But it always promised to “rise from the flames” – and now it has revealed its plans.
It will reopen on New Street, in the premises vacated by the large All Bar One cocktail bar.
That has shut and its fixtures, fittings and stock were being moved out earlier this week.
Here’s what it will look like as The Terrace, according to a planning application:
The application applies for permission to install new facia and projecting signs, a new menu case, a lantern and replacement window graphics.
Paul Gardner had been tenant of the Terrace in Fossgate for 17 years, but the Stonegate Pub Group decided not to renew the lease.
He told the York Press that he plans to pick up the keys to the New Street premises in the next couple of weeks with The Terrace opening at the end of September.
Most of his former staff will join the bar at its new home.
Paul told the newspaper: “We are then able to take our sport and food, plus the live music, and make it available to a wider, bigger audience.”
