Cllr Julie Gunnell will be officially appointed as the Rt Hon Lord Mayor of York at City of York Council’s Annual Council this week.
Over 150 guests including the civic party, outgoing civic party, councillors and council officers will attend the annual meeting on Thursday 23 May.
Cllr Julie Gunnell will be sworn in to office and will take over from the current Lord Mayor, Cllr Keith Hyman. Cllr Brian Watson will take over the role of Sheriff from Cllr Paul Firth.
The ceremony will be held at the Guildhall starting at 11am. At the end of the ceremony the new civic party will emerge from the Guildhall and process through the city centre, led by Superintendent of York Police, Supt. Lisa Winward and accompanied by the York Guard and the York Waits.
The procession will make its way to the Assembly Rooms to continue their celebrations with a private luncheon.
