Child rescued after being trapped on third floor balcony in York

Firefighters came to the rescue after a child became trapped on a balcony high above street level in York.

They were called to a home on Heworth Green at 10.03am.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Acomb crews responded to a child that became trapped on the third floor balcony of a domestic property after they closed it behind themselves and a locking system engaged.

“Crews used crew power to release the door.”
