Chairman of York based Nestle Rowntree RUFC Jim Baldwin is to officially step down from his role after one of the team’s most successful seasons in many years.
Jim has provided stability to the club after numerous challenges, including the Covid-19 pandemic.
He now feels the club is in a strong position to be run by a new leadership. A former player, he has chaired the club for 12 years.
Mike Chapman, club treasurer and another former Nestle Rowntree player, said:
Jim has been an inspirational head of the club and we cannot thank him enough for his years of commitment.
He’s helped steer the club in a positive direction after we’ve had to navigate a tricky few years. We cannot thank him enough for his unrivalled commitment to not only the club and its committee but to the players and their families.
The club hopes to finish the season off on a high with the final game to be played at home on 2 April.
All players past and present are encouraged to come down to give the club support as well as to take part in a super squad photo to mark the end of Jim’s term as chairman.
His successor has yet to be voted in.
