Casper is one of those dogs who likes to get out and see the world.
But this sense of dogged adventure led him to into a spot of trouble earlier this month.
Casper left his home in Nether Poppleton to do a bit of evening exploring – only to realise that he was completely lost.
Not only that he had wandered into the road outside the Lord Nelson pub in the village and was at risk of being run over.
Fortunately, he was rescued by Adrian Andrews, the driver of the Transdev No 10 bus.
Adrian scooped him up out of danger and took him home.
‘Very kind driver’
Casper was so grateful that he wrote to the Transdev Bus Company to personally thank them.
He wrote:
I want to personally thank the very nice driver who returned me, Casper, to my home when I got a bit lost near the Lord Nelson Pub.
It was August 8th or 9th and it was in the evening.
I do like to go out and have adventures, but as you can see I am a small dog and I don’t really know much about busy roads.
So it was very kind of the nice driver to take his time to find out where I live and bring me back safely.
Many thanks from me and my family.
Love always,
Casper
Casper’s letter made the day of the Transdev team.
“We are used to receiving thank you letters from our customers, especially our Unibus services, but this is our first from a dog!” said Alan Isherwood, the company’s operations manager.
“Our driver had to act quickly when he saw Casper on the road.
“We were just glad we could re-unite him safely with his owner.”
