A car collided with a lorry and overturned on the A64 between York and Malton this morning (Tuesday).
It happened near the Jinnah Restaurant on the York-bound carriageway.
The car ended up on its roof.
Firefighters from York and Malton went to the scene at 11.27am.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Fire and police staff removed the occupant who had suffered a head injury who was then assessed by ambulance staff.
“Crews continued to carry out scene safety and stood by with a hose reel jet incase of any fire igniting from the vehicle.
A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said one person was taken to York Hospital by ambulance.
One lane of the A64 was closed while they dealt with the incident. It has since reopened.
