Emergency crews were called to a crash near Harrogate early this morning (Wednesday).
They responded to the collision on the B6161 near Pot Bank Bridge at 4.25am.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Both Harrogate appliances responded to a police request following a single car road traffic collision with the male driver still in vehicle and believed intoxicated.
“As fire crews prepared for a vehicle roof removal, the male made his own way from the vehicle and into the care of the ambulance where he was transported to hospital complaining of back pain.”
