Two vehicles were gutted by fire after being deliberately set alight next to a Northallerton house early today (Monday).
Both Northallerton fire crews were called out to the blaze on Sydney Avenue East in the town at 1.17am.
The fire then spread to a two-storey end of terrace house.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus put out the blaze using hose reel jets.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The fire caused 100% fire damage to a Citroën van, 80% fire damage to a Peugeot 508, 100% fire damage to a lean-to, and 2m by 2m of fire damage to rendering on the exterior of the property.
“All occupants were out of the property on arrival of the fire service. The cause was deliberate.”
Police had sealed off the street today, and a scenes of crime officer was taking photographs of the aftermath.
Station Manager Tony Walker, who took these pictures, said on X: “A fire investigation is underway following a serious fire in Northallerton during the early hours of the night.
“Two crews extinguished the blaze using hose reel jets and breathing apparatus.”
