Can you help as Helen cycles from York to Lapland?
Victim Support North Yorkshire has launched its annual festive appeal with a virtual cycle ride from York to Lapland.
Independent victim advocate Helen will endeavour to cycle the equivalent number of miles from York to Lapland, a total of 1,309 miles, to symbolically collect the presents from Santa’s workshop.
Helen is hoping to raise enough money to fund gifts and wellbeing packs for current clients and to be in a position to help new clients going into the New Year.
Helen will cover the miles, out and about around York on her bike, and at the gym when the weather is rough. She will be helped and supported by her son Ben and her North Yorkshire team mates.
Helen says “Often the effects of crime mean that families are unable to provide much in the way of festive cheer.
“We believe that offering a gift or a treat can make all the difference and help victims on their cope and recovery journey after crime. We are asking for donations in order to buy suitable and age appropriate gifts for the individuals we support”.
If you are able to support Helen and the North Yorkshire team to raise money for the festive appeal please visit the Just Giving page to make a donation, or contact us direct for donations of gifts.
Victim Support is an independent charity offering free, confidential support to people affected by crime and traumatic incidents.
