Police have condemned vandals who defaced a York war memorial twice in a week.
The damage took place at the memorial in Rowntree Park the afternoon of Tuesday 9 and Tuesday 16 November.
Words were scratched over and signs etched onto a plaque.
A police investigation is underway, and officers are asking any witnesses, or anyone with relevant CCTV footage, to get in touch.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “It’s beyond belief that anyone would be callous and cruel enough to damage a war memorial. The fact there have been two incidents makes it even more shocking. Please, if you have any information that could identify those responsible, get in touch with us right away.”
