A woman has been seriously hurt in a collision involving a car and a bus on the A19 today.
Emergency services remain at the scene of the crash, between Shipton and Easingwold, close to the Hawkhills turn off..
The incident happened shortly before 7.20am today (Tuesday), and involved a cream Volvo bus and black Audi A1.
The driver of the bus, which did not have any passengers at the time of the incident, was taken to hospital with minor injuries but has since been released.
The driver of the Audi, a woman in her late twenties, has been taken to Hull Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Anyone who witnessed the incident or who was travelling in the area at the time is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police.
“In particular, officers are appealing for a pedal cyclist believed to be in the area at the time of the incident, to come forward.”
Anyone with any information is asked to dial 101, press 1 and pass information to the force control room, quoting number NYP-26022021-0049.
The road is expected to remain closed for at least another hour. Drivers are urged to avoid the area.
