Bus and car crash near York Park & Ride – Driver has to be cut free
A driver was trapped in his car after it was in collision with a bus in York this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Hull Road, Dunnington, close to Grimston Bar Park & Ride, at 3.01pm today (Tuesday).
The male driver of the car was trapped.
York and Acomb firefighters were called out alongside the Tadcaster Heavy Rescue unit.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “All persons were out of the bus on arrival of fire crews.
“One male driver was trapped in car. Oxygen was administered to him by the crew and hydraulic cutting equipment used on vehicle to allow access for safe release of casualty.”
He was then handed into the care of paramedics, and the incident was left with police.
A spokesperson for bus company First York said that the collision involve a number 8 bus at the entrance to Grimston Bar Park & Ride.
“The emergency services were called to the scene and a member of our depot team attended to provided assistance.
“No passengers were injured and were able to make their way safely to the park & ride car park.
“Our driver was unhurt but we are supporting them. We understand a person in the other vehicle was taken to hospital and we wish them a speedy recovery.
“We are assisting the police with their investigation into the cause of the incident.”
