Inspired by the glamour, flamboyance and creative potential of the art form, they decided to put on their own burlesque and cabaret event in the city and Coquette was born.
Since then the pair – now known as Daisy De Lux and Pandora Amour – have gone on to produce hundreds of shows, employing over 160 performers and delighting audiences with the risqué and the ridiculous.
The Coquette team will be celebrating this milestone with some of their favourite acts on Friday at The Fulford Arms.
Dancing and cake
Following a sell out show over the summer at The Great Yorkshire Fringe, Daisy and Pandora wanted to mark their anniversary with a more intimate event. Daisy said:
-
Our first show took place at The Speakeasy on Gillygate with a small but very enthusiastic audience!
We wanted to recreate that feeling with an informal, bijoux event involving pop up performances throughout the evening followed by dancing and of course, birthday cake.
Confirmed acts include burlesque performers Sarina Del Fuego, Poppy Pout and Maisie Martini, bellydancer Farasha Albaydaa, circus artiste Mira Belle and close up magician Adrian Salamon.
For those who like to dance DJs Danny Mass and Tripp Hazzard will be playing rock n’roll, swing, jive and jazz until late.
