The newly opened YO1 Beach Club has become a popular destination with residents and visitors – and now the fun can go on even longer.
The family-friendly beach haven has extended its weekend hours and added alcoholic beverages.
The YO1 Beach Club will now be open until 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays during July and August, as well as Sundays 22 and 29 August. Alcoholic beverages will also be available on these dates.
Visitors can sit and relax in a deckchair or at a table on the beach and welcome in the weekend with a chilled glass of wine, prosecco, beer, cider, Pimms, gin or a cocktail.
If you prefer a pina-co-nada to a pina-colada – don’t worry! The non-alcoholic range of ales, lagers, ciders, wines and mocktails will continue to be served throughout the week as well as coffees.
Located in Tower Gardens at the foot of Skeldergate Bridge, the safe urban oasis has a covered cafe and veranda complete with sand, picnic tables, deckchairs, beach huts, surfboards, lobster pots – and even a boat!
Enjoy a summer drink
Maria Farrugia, event director of the YO1 Beach Club, said “We are delighted with how well our new addition to York’s summer offering has been received, and are particularly pleased that everyone can now stay a little longer to enjoy the magical setting on weekend evenings.
“We’ll have an Ibiza vibe going so without doubt YO1 Beach Club will be the coolest place to enjoy a summer drink.
“Parents can enjoy a glass of wine or beer while their kids enjoy playing in the yellow boat or giant sandpit.”
There’s also tasty food to enjoy to really make the ultimate beach day out. The open barbecue serves a choice of grilled food, including burgers, southern fried chicken, pizza and – of course – fish and chips.
A kids menu, ice creams, cakes and beach treats are also available.
The YO1 Beach Club is open daily until 5 September. Entry is free with no booking required. For more information visit their website here.
