A key North Yorkshire bridge has reopened after ten months – and a nearby hotel has announced a special offer to celebrate.
Aldwark Toll Bridge closed last April for repairs. The bridge crosses the River Ure and connects Little Ouseburn with Aldwark. It is one of the UK’s only privately-owned toll bridges.
The closure caused a 25-mile detour via Boroughbridge for many drivers. It reopened on Saturday.

To mark the reopening, Aldwark Manor Estate is offering half price membership to its recently revamped golf course.
Following a £4.5 million investment in the course and facilities, the nine holes have been redesigned to create new challenges for golfers.
The estate has also built Bunkers, which features a sports bar, restaurant and 11 bedrooms to accommodate golfing groups of various sizes.

A further £25 million is being spent on the estate, including the launch of Chartwell, a fine dining restaurant, this spring, and the introduction of a new spa and additional bedrooms in 2025.
Christophe Gitton, estate director at Aldwark Manor Estate, says: “The new season coinciding with the reopening of the toll bridge is fantastic news and will immediately improve access for our guests and members.”
Seven days a week membership starts at £890 for 12 months, which is currently discounted to £445 with the half price relaunch offer if you book before the end of April. More on the hotel website.
